A Visit with Honey and Papa John

On Sept. 29, 2009 I took Blake and Brooklyn over for a visit to my grandparents, Honey and Papa John.  Papa John is 91 and Honey would not want me to tell you her age :)

The kids loved playing with their toys... some of these toys belonged to my dad when he was their age.
This Allied truck has been a favorite of all the great grandkids.  My dad and his brother got matching sets when they moved as little boys.

Blake was the honorary photographer for these next couple pictures.
I have many fond memories of going to Honey and Papa John's house as a little girl... and as a big girl!  We would go over at least once a week... spend the night, play office upstairs, have popcorn from an air popper and real melted butter, play in their HUGE back yard, eat fresh fruits and vegetables from their garden, eat bar-b-que hot dogs and hamburgers from the grill out on their back patio, have pancakes made into characters for breakfast, sleep in nightgowns and nightcaps Honey sewed for us, eat her home made orange rolls, jello, and delicious dinners, go over for jelly bean easter egg hunts, weed flower beds for money, sort things out for garage sales, sneak into her 2 attics upstairs and discover endless treasures, play with their rotary telephone, play kickball in their cul-d-sac, play in the pink tree blossoms in their front yard, try to scare them on Halloween, go over for thousands of clothes fittings (honey did all of our hemming, alterations, and formal dress sewings!!!) and we loved to look through her photo albums!.  Oh... Honey's house was the BEST!  I wanted to live there and never leave.  It was always sad when we saw my dad's little blue Civic pull up to take us home.
